The KSC on campus student population is over 2,500
students every year, and the IT Group has no way of knowing what
all those personal computers have been up to before students bring
them to campus. To help keep the campus network free of malware,
all on campus students are required to install
the Cisco Clean Access Agent (CCA), McAfee
anti-virus software,
and Windows critical updates.
The CCA verifies that McAfee is running, that current Windows
critical updates are installed, and that the Microsoft automatic
update feature is running on students’ computers every time
they connect to the network.
Students who don’t have the required software and updates
must install them in order to get full access to the network.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- All students will use their NetID (username) to log in to the
campus network in the residence halls, the computer labs, and
the campus wireless networks. Your NetID is the first part of
your MyKSC e-mail address.
- The CCA client will not become active until
students connect their computers to the campus network. Installing
CCA now will help to make move-in weekend easier because you
won’t be trying to download the software at the same time
as everyone else on campus.
- New students use the last six numbers of their SS# as their
initial password when logging in to the network for the first
time.
- New students must change
their initial password here because
a password based on your Social Security number is too easy to
figure out.
