Residence Halls
Residence hall rooms are wired with network connections for access
to the campus computer network and the Internet. Each room has
a “port per pillow” setup so each student living
in the room has his or her own network connection. The
proper operation and use of the KSC computer network is the responsibility
of the entire campus community. Each community member should become
familiar with the Computer and Network Use
Policy (CNUP).
Wireless
KSC and the IT Group support public wireless zones for Internet
access in the Mason Library, the Young Student Center, Rhodes
Hall and on the second level of the Zorn Dining Commons. Selected
classroom areas in the Science Center are also equipped with
wireless access. Students will need to be on campus in order
to configure their laptops with the public
wireless networks.
Campus Computer Labs
All students at KSC have access to the public and specialized computing
labs.
Public labs in Rhodes Hall and the Mason library provide
access to laser printers, digital scanners, and Microsoft Office
suite software. They also give students a place to meet for academic
and social interactions. Public computing labs are open over 90
hours per week, and Rhodes Hall has extended hours during finals
week.
Students are required to use their NetID to log in to the
public lab computers.
(Your NetID is the first part of your MyKSC
e-mail address.)
Specialized labs offer software and technology
applications that are specific to certain majors. It is important
for students to explore technology that is critical to a major.
